Itinerary

Days 1-3: Beijing

Arrive in China's capital for the journey of a lifetime. See the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the incredible Great Wall of China.

Day 4: Trans Mongolian Railway

Commence your rail adventure by boarding the train at Beijing Station, and follow the Great Wall northwest into Mongolia.

Day 5: Ulaanbaatar

This morning travel through the Mongolian Plateau and Gobi Desert before arriving in Ulaanbaatar - a thriving metropolis in endless grass steppes, donkeys and traditional gers.

Days 6-8: Ulaanbaatar & Mongolian Steppe

See stunning views of the city from the Zaisan Memorial and visit Gandan Hiid, the country's largest monastery. The next two nights will be spent in traditional Mongolian gers. On the last day visit the National Museum before boarding the train to Siberia.

Day 9: Trans-Mongolian Railway

Travel to the border town of Ulan Ude and then to Lake Baikal.

Day 10: Irkutsk

Explore one of the most captivating cities on the Trans Siberian route. With 18th century churches, and brightly decorated houses, this town earns its monicker 'Paris of Siberia', as you will learn on a walking tour.

Day 11: Lake Baikal

Travel by road through the Siberian countryside to Lake Baikal, one of the world's deepest freshwater lakes and repository of one-fifth of the world's fresh water. Visit the village of Listvyanka.

Days 12-14: Trans-Siberian Railway

Rejoin the train and travel via Novosibirsk, Omsk, Ekaterinburg, and the Ural Mountains on your way to Moscow.

Days 15-18: Moscow

Take time over the last three days of your tour to explore the sights of Moscow, including the famous Kremlin, St Basil's Cathedral, and Red Square. Journey on the magnificent metro or a river cruise, and maybe enjoy a night at the theatre. On the last days hop aboard the overnight express to St Petersburg.

Days 19-21: St Petersburg

Tour 'the Venice of the North' visiting St Isaacs Cathedral, the remarkable artworks of the Hermitage Museum, and the unrivalled summer palace of Petrodvorets.
